homeLA welcomes the students of AB Miller Dance Conservatory on their first day of inSITE 2023!

Congratulations to Samantha Mohr for stepping up as inSITE's Education Director! She will continue our partnership with the Maloof Foundation for another exciting cycle of youth-initiated site-specific dance.


Introducing inSITE 2023

TEACHING ARTISTS

Aisha Shauntel Bardge, inSITE Teaching Artist (Dance)
is passionate about all things dance and dabbles in everything that involves performing, creating, and teaching. The Inland Empire, CA artist is a powerful and soulful mover who utilizes her blended training practices to radiate light and magic when sharing. She dances with several dance companies based in Riverside: Tropicalieza, led by Julie Simon; counterpoint/shift, led by Sue Roginski; and an improvisation duet collective with her partner, Stephen Tanner.  Recently, she was a dance teaching artist for the Dance Collaborative, a Fontana Unified School District program led by Nicole Robinson which provides dance education for students in grades PK- 8th grade.  Aisha holds a BFA in Dance from CSU Long Beach.

Leo Rivas, inSITE Teaching Artist (Film)

served on the VAPA Curriculum Frameworks and Evaluation Criteria Committee for Media Arts at the California Department of Education. He's the 2023 San Bernardino County of Schools Teacher of the Year,  currently teaches Cinema Studies at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, and has also taught Video Production at A.B. Miller High School in Fontana. His industry background includes working as a Program Director for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, an Associate Producer for FOX Sports, as well as editing for dance films, music videos and short films.

Were also grateful to Kaitwan Jackson (dance) and Robbie Shaw (film) for their help with the development of the inSITE handbook and curriculum. inSITE is homeLA's youth-initiated site-specific dance program for high school students studying dance. inSITE currently supports students from AB Miller High School's Dance Conservatory and is produced in partnership with The Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation.

This program is supported by a California Arts Council Creative Youth Development Grant.
